Christine Ryan, RN, MSA
Interim Executive Director, NEMSD
Ryan is the current NEMSD Interim Executive Director. She is a 20 year plus member of ANA-Vermont and is currently serving as its Executive Director and Government Affairs liaison. During her nursing career, she has had the opportunity to work in homecare, addiction medicine, school nursing, and the private and public sectors of health care. Ryan received her undergraduate and masters degrees from Saint Michael's College, Colchester, Vermont and her nursing degree from the University of Vermont, Burlington, Vermont. Ryan enjoys the four seasons of Vermont, playing golf with colleagues and seeking as many ski days as the snow will allow. She has been a volunteer at her local library for over a decade, serving in a variety of roles with the local Friends chapter. Ryan strives to become a better surfer, keep up with her kids, and seeks the perfect pie.
Shelly Gardiner, BS
Director of Professional Development, NEMSD
Gardiner is currently serving as the Director of Professional Development, NEMSD. Prior to her present position, she served as the Director of Business Administration for 10 years with ANA-Rhode Island. Gardiner also served as the President of Bill Gardiner Plumbing & Heating, Inc and Vice President of Warren Chair Works, Inc. Gardiner received her BS in Business Management from Johnson & Wales University in 2014 and is presently working towards her MBA. Gardiner is a lifelong resident of Rhode Island, but recently relocated to Hernando County, FL.
Director of Business Administration, NEMSD
Wilson serves as the Director of Business Administration, NEMSD. Prior to her present position, she served as the Business Director with the New Hampshire Nurses Association and the Executive Director with the New Hampshire Opera. Wilson entered the nonprofit world over 25 years ago, giving her the opportunity to develop professionally through career advancement and self growth. She is a native of New Hampshire, residing in Concord five houses down from where she grew up. Living in a house of sports enthusiasts, she’s become a big fan of the Boston Red Sox. She could consider herself a groupie now because she had the good fortune of watching Center Fielder Andrew Bendenti play in the Minor leagues right before he was called up to the Red Sox.
Communications/Membership Coordinator, NEMSD
Rodgers is presently serving as the Communications/Membership Coordinator, NEMSD. Prior to that, she served as the Membership/Marketing Director with ANA-Vermont. Rodgers started her career in Washington, DC working as a Staff Assistant for a Member of the House of Representatives from Delaware County, PA, then worked as an Assistant Editor for a magazine before deciding to stay home and raise her children. Rodgers volunteered as a CCD teacher and on the Catholic Charities Ball of the Arlington Diocese, VA. Rodgers received her BA in English Literature from West Chester University, PA. She and her husband are natives of the Philadelphia area and just recently relocated back there. Despite raising her family in Virginia, Rodgers never lost her affinity for her hometown team, the Philadelphia Eagles. Her favorite vacation place is Avalon, NJ.
Education Coordinator, NEMSD
Chivers serves as the NEMSD Education Coordinator in which she assists the Director of Professional Development by coordinating and implementing aspects of the MSD Continuing Education Department’s daily operations. Prior to her present position, she served as an Administrative Assistant with ANA-Rhode Island (RISNA) when needed, but became officially employed in 2014 to help in the Continuing Education Unit working alongside the MSD staff, applicants, and reviewers. In 2012, Chivers received her BA in History from Chestnut Hill College, PA. Though she is originally from Pennsylvania, Chivers has been a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots. She now resides in Bristol County, Rhode Island. She loves to spend time outdoors and traveling.
Administrative Assistant, NEMSD
Schweitzer serves as the Administrative Assistant with the NEMSD on a part-time basis, while working as a Database and Systems Operations Analyst with St. Joseph College, ME. Schweitzer is also a proofreader and is presently working with several authors and entrepreneurs on their books. She has spent 24 years working in higher education, from Admissions, Finance to Information Technology. Prior to working with the NEMSD, Schweitzer worked with ANA-Maine as the Business Director for 11 years. Schweitzer became interested in helping nurses after the wonderful care she and mother received at the end of her mother’s life. She explains that it is her way of paying back/paying it forward. Michelle holds a Bachelor’s in Accounting. She is a native of Kittery, Maine and presently resides in the Lakes and Mountains region of Maine. She has also lived in Green Bay, WI and Cincinnati, OH. She travels several times per year to join friends at music festivals; her favorite gatherings are on the ocean or at the beach
